Tom Messenger - Principal Solicitor


Born and raised in Orange, Tom obtained degrees in Science and Law from the Australian National University in Canberra before moving to Sydney where he was appointed legal and research assistant (tipstaff) to the Honourable Justice Lloyd of the Land & Environment Court.

Following his admission as a solicitor in 2010, Tom worked in a leading specialist town planning and local government practice. He then joined a national commercial firm, where he worked for 7 years, ultimately in the position of Senior Associate. During that period the firm grew significantly to become the largest legal partnership in Australia.

Throughout the course of Tom’s time in Sydney, he practised principally in the areas of litigation, property, town planning and local government. His litigation experience extends to all major Courts and Tribunals in NSW. Tom expanded his practice upon his return to his home town with a particular interest in estates, injury compensation, and transactional matters.

In addition to providing services to clients in the Central West, Tom regularly represents clients from Sydney and other parts of regional NSW requiring assistance in town planning and environmental law.

Christopher Messenger - Solicitor


Christopher was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW in 1975. Having practiced for over 40 years, Christopher has a wealth of knowledge of all general practice areas, in particular conveyancing, wills, estates and succession law, and workers compensation.

Christopher is an accredited Mediator with the NSW Law Society, Australian Mediation Association, and Workers Compensation Commission and regularly travels around the Central West and to Sydney. Christopher has conducted over 500 mediations as a Mediator. He is also a farm debt Mediator with the NSW Rural Assistance Authority.

Christopher was appointed by the NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice as a Costs Assessor for 12 years. He was also appointed by the President of the then Workers’ Compensation Commission as an Arbitrator and Mediator for 9 years. He currently conducts mediations in the Central West and Sydney for the Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Christopher is married to Christine Carter and has wide community interests, including sporting organisations and charities in the Central West.

Daina Reid - Solicitor


Daina grew up in Lithgow before moving to Wollongong to complete her university studies.

She completed her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees at the University of Wollongong in 2018 and is a  solicitor with Messenger & Messenger.

Daina assists with a full range of matters carried out by the firm.

Daina has a particular interest in the areas of family law, wills, estates and injury compensation.

Robert Hood - Consultant Solicitor


Robert was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW in 1966 as a partner in Whitham Wilkinson & Marks practising in all corporate areas, income tax, estate minimisation, trusts and estates and old system conveyancing. When that firm dissolved, he practiced as a sole trader for some years.

He retired in 1982 to become a fulltime grazier but returned to law in 1993 with Chris Messenger, opening an office in Bathurst as Messenger & Messenger Bathurst. He has since sold that practice.

Robert now operates his legal practice from Meadow Flat and Bathurst. He has a particular interest in all types of conveyancing, be it old system, strata, community title, western lands leasehold, or normal torrens title. He is experienced in small lot residential and rural and commercial subdivision as well as wills, trusts and deceased estates.

He is a founder of the Australian Document Exchange and of the Hills Grammar School in Round Corner, Dural.

Robert is also a farmer and grazier who lives and operates a cattle and sheep property between Bathurst and Lithgow so he can only be seen by appointment, in Bathurst or Meadow Flat.
